Charge 4 no longer syncing/“sync is taking a while” endlessly

WebI don’t sync super often, maybe once a day or even every second or third day sometimes. My Charge 4 died last night so I put it on the charger and when I remembered to put it back on this evening and I just went to sync for the first time in a few days and the progress bar just stops about halfway, and sits on the “sync is taking a while” message. WebIt syncs steps, km, heartrate and exercise points. It does not sync exercises, sleep, and if you try to add / reorder exercise shortcuts.
